Please see the ffg pics - are there any important aircooling covers missing. I some how feel like she is heating up. Maybe just in my mind. Someone once said u should be able to touch the dip stick after a long drive... I am able to touch mine. But if there are any covers missing, I would like to have them fitted.

Well, to start off, I can see the ground there as well as the exhausts. This engine wont last long, you risk of overheating this thing and 99% sure you will have a dropped valve on #3 and end up totalling your motor. You are missing the the whole 'surrounding' engine tin. And once you have it in, you will have the engine seal too!!!

Best way for you is to go and look at another bug that has all the tins fitted on it, and get the ones that you are missing.also get a new sealing rubber that goes around the rear of the engine bay.
also TAKE THAT PETROL FILTER OUT OF THE ENGINE BAY

Continued--------and fit it under the tank, out of the way of the steering gear.
at a glance, looks like you need a breastplate, doghouse triangular housing, doghouse chute, rear tin (close up all the unused holes ) and a handfull of screws, nuts and washers.
When You re-route the petrol line thru the breastplate, make sure that it has serious protection at that point or it will rub thru in no time and your bug will burn to the ground. use only high grade rubber type tubing NO PLASTIC TYPE.
the best tube to buy is the genuine VW stuff from the agents --kevlar -re-inforced--- at about R120 -00 per metre!,
Have fun!

Check with Robbie in boom street. Vaders could probably also have that is for the tin. Ask robbie for engine rubbers

If for some reason I cant source these covers - is there any other effective way of cooling the motor. Was thinking of adding a fan on the inside of the engine hood. :?:

Thanks

Just get the right parts there are plenty used parts dealers around that have them
--Probably cost a lot less than a fan, which wont work

Thanks guys - managed to get the correct covers and rubbers from Robbie in PMB. The stuff needs some straightening and painting. Will be fitting it tomorrow.

Geez bro, I told you to phone me. I have complete powdercoated tin, the engine bay rubber etc which you could have had for next to nothing. I dont need the stuff as I`m going the watercooled route. As they say, you snooze, you loose. 1.8 Golf motor. By the way, go to Falcon Used Spares in Boom Str. They have three Bugs for stripping.

You need help but keep on bumping your head.

Cheers
