The 411,'67 1500 Beetle, Type 3 Auto, 1302/1302s,Some Ghias,Mexican and Brasilian Bugs and whichever others all had 4 stud drums at the back - Are the drums and backing plates all interchangeable? Are they the same?

I am not 100% on this one but the rear drum on the 411 is a diff. design to the others, the T3 has a wider drum than the 1302/3 or 67 bug so no they are all diff but share the same PCD

This is getting a bit confusing
In spite of all of them being different, would they all bolt onto the 5 lug backing plates?

Bobnotch wrote:411 drums are the same as t-3 drums. If you're converting from 5 lug to 4 lug, then you'll also need the hub, but if you've already got 4 lugs, then you'll just need the drums. Brake shoes are the same also.

The 70's T3 & 411 drum is a diff. design to the beetle wide 5 drum and are not interchangable.
70's T3 & 411 drum fits onto a hud (like the rear of a golf, as a example, no splines on the drum) while the early wide 5 for beetle, 1967 4x1300 and wide 5 T3 pre 1969 all fit over a splined axle (splines on the drum).
I have used a 4x130 1967 rear drum on a 1971 wide 5 rear no problem, also used rear T3 wide 5 on a 1974 wide 5 beetle but you need to use the backing plates, shoes and all hardware from the T3, it's a bolt on.
The 70's T3 style hubs were only available in some of the last Automatic Fastbacks in SA
