Can someone please advise:

I have been told that after a vehicle has reached a certain age, you do not have to pay licence anymore. I would like to knowif this is true and how old the car has to be?

Is this maybe the reason the licencing dept can not trace any outstanding licences on my '65? :?

Not that simple.
You have to have it specially classified, then a reduced licence is payable.Think vehicle has to be at least 40 years old,you must belong to an old car club, etc.
Then you may only drive the car to shows and only with no passengers or goods inside. However people with these licenses seldom stay with these rules and few cops know the rules.
Only problem is if you are involved in an accident.
My daily driver is 51 years old and i keep normal licence.
