wolfsbane:
Use about 340ml of Paraffin in 10l of water when you wash a car. Paraffin helps rust prevention and is oil based, and non-corrosive, so where water gets in and sits as it does in most old vehicles, chances of rust are cut down dramatically.

Lots of people here on the coast use that.... not only does it shine a lot but it prevents the mist from adhering to the paint.... I dont know about the amounts though...

Think I'll give it a try...

Sounds good.

Best rust prevention I have found to date ........ wait for it ......... NO driving in the rain and NO car washing = no moisture guaranteed. My Nissan registration (By chance not choice) FYL 169 GP, (vuil) dirty in Afrikaans as dirty 169 GP, never a rust problem while using this system.

...rain is inevitable, and there is no way I'm taking my lady out in a dirty bus.
Perhaps it's all that hot breath in the back of the bus during certain nights out with the aforementioned that causes it...no way I'm preventing my rust if that's the solution.
*lol*

Washing the car regularly does help against rust prevention. I use a decent car shampoo (cant remeber which one). If it is clean, there is no dust for the water to stick to. A good wax job is also beneficial.
Never use dishwashing liquid to wash the car, it strips all protection off the paint
