Gearbox place?

's up?

My normal gearbox contact is unable to take my bug in for an inspection this week...and I'd like to take it to a show on SUN.

Can any of you recommend somewhere in Sandton, or the surrounds who does decent work on VW g/boxes at reasonable rates?

I work near Sandton CBD, so somewhere I can take it during my lunch hour for drop-off is good.

Cheers, N.

Um...no idea.

How many Delta Parks are there in Jo'burg? ;)

What work does your gearbox need? There's not really anything you can do with a Beetle box without removing it from the car and opening it, except change the axle boots.

ACVW mechanic in Sandton? Puhleeeze!

Erm, the shifting is very sloppy.

I struggle to get first, and overall it just feels very sloppy.

No worries, I'll take it to the show on SUN with care, and do the 'box next week at my usual place.

Cheers, N.

Fit a quick shifter kit no more sloppy shifting easy to fit, the nylon bush in the tunnel under the shift stick could also be worn and cause bad gear selection, in a bad case the whole fitting could be worn out and just replacing the bush will not help, the tunnel will have to be cut open to fix the problem, it is a bastard to replace properly, as the whole shift rod needs to come out, I did once but never again. Normally these are the things that cause difficult gear selection. If you want a quick shifter I have the kit.

*lol*

Rui has everything. ;)

Clue me up here...what exactly is a quick shift kit?

...how much do you want for your kit?

I had someone take a quick 'feel' at the shifter, and I'm told it may just be some linkage or something which is apparently easy to replace, but I'm interested in your kit if the price is right...

Cheers, N.

I have one fitted to blue bug and changes real smooth, it is basically a ally spacer with a ball for the stick and it bolts on no mods needed totally reversible 1 hour job all you need is a 13 spanner and a little grease. R100, let me know.

I'll take the standoffs and shifter mod off of you. :)

I'll PM you a mobile number for SUN.

that bushing in the tunnel does help A LOT......
I was stirring the porridge with my gearlever until last year now there is actually more of a "gate" for shifting....
