How do you wire the older type alternators, the one with the 3 pins , with the external regulater, and what type of regulater is this and who has these?

My Beetle have one of those type alternators. What exactly doe you want to know? Where the various colour wires have to connect? I can check and let you know, tomorrow maybe.

Here is how my Beetle alternator is wired. I am still not exactly sure about specific wiring where the wires connect to the regulator, but I made a simple diagram illustrating the wiring on the alternator of my Beetle. Also, mine has a Bosch regulator... not sure what you want to know by "type"... If you need details on connecting the coloured wires to the regulator, just shout and I'll see what I can do.

BTW, I'm not sure how to upload pics yet, so I hope this one will open.
