Aircooled VW South Africa

Can someone help a newbi in the SA scene...?
All I know about my Rostyle rims...are that they come from SA and that you guys never ended the wide 5 pattern for your VW`s...?

Someone telling the story brief...?

Also would like to get my hands on 3 sets of center caps...if they are common used...or if I need to buy some repops....?

Heres a picture of my 67 convert "trying on" the rims...

That is one seriously cool car.

The wide-5 pattern was utilised throughout production of the Beetle and Type 3 in SA, with only the '67 1500 Beetle available with 4-stud wheels and front disk brakes. Even the '1600 S', a 1303-like SA Beetle with a curved front windscreen, had wide-5 wheels (14' Rostyles with beauty rings), swingarm rear suspension and drum brakes, making it a car unique to SA.

AFAIK Rostyles were only sold in SA, as a factory option for Beetles and they were also manufactured here. A wider version made by Smiths wheels for the Buggy and Baja crowd (painted white with a blue/red pinstripe), was available in 14 and 15 inch sizes long after Beetle production was discontinued.

The more common (in Europe anyway) EMPI or Lemmertz Sprintstar wheels were also sold only in limited numbers our side.

I might be able to assist you with one original Rostyle center cap, if you perhaps want to have it reproduced?

I believe they were manufactured by a company called guestro in Port Elizabeth (standard ones)

Geustro Forge, well known forging manufacture, they Audit me evry few months as my compony seply them with the material to make things

As far as I know,Guestro Wheels still have the tools to make the the Rosstyles.

Those Rostyles look seriously cool on the right car

New centre caps are being made by a company here in South Africa, so getting those wouldn't be a problem. AFAIK, they are an exact copy of the original?

enjoy your stay at ACVWSA....

So many lying around hare that we use them for keeping the garden hosepipe on

Thanks to them telling me that I got a nice car ....convertible has always been on top of my wishlist....
