Pepi's Beetle Project - Updated 2008/07/23 (more photos)

Post by Pepsicola »

The time has come to give the Beetle a new color
Volla2.JPG
Started the weekend with the big job of stripping and removing the old paint.
What a surprise the PO sprayed it with enamel, now its bare metal for me.

Will place more photo's as the project evolves.

We just love project threads! What are your plans for the car? Is it going to remain the same colour?

What method did you use to remove all the old paint?
If it's too low, you're too old

Plan is to keep it orginal, colour is still gonna be blue (Jazz or Electric).
Sand blasting is expensive (very tight budget), so we are using an angle grinder with a fine wire brush to remove the enamel.

Dont you just love the colour of freshly stripped/cleaned body panels? Makes you wanna buff it up nice and shinny and then just give it a clear coat......mmmm so sexy all that bare skin....

Found some rust on the lower hinge brackets of the doors, add weight to the car by welding in pieces.
