Just incase you havn't heard: DIRK HAS A FASTY!

Yea, I've wanted to wait until I actually got it here and laid my hands on it, but I'm to damn excited to wait anymore.

So, here we go with some pictures of what she looks like taken for me, by our friendly ACVW neighborhood super hero, Chris.

As you can see, this fasty was originally red. The plan is to get her down here with me, and take it back to it's original colour. I already have a set of re-chromed OG beetle rims that are marked for this Fasty. :)

Chris found this dude up in PE that is really good with interiors, so I coughed up and had it done up there.

Again, here are some pictures supplied by Chris. :)

This last Sunday, Chris and BAB (got bored?) decided to get my Fasty running again. I'm really jealous that I wasn't there, but here are some cool pictures of what they got up to.

Image
Chris: "How do you like it?"
BAB: "Did you tell Dirk this Fasty has an invisible engine?"

Image
Chris: "Reach for it!!"
BAB: grumbles something inaudible.

Seriously though, thanks guys, I'm speechless.

Congrats, Dirk! :drunks: Once again it shows you that if you really set your mind to something, it will be yours on the end!

*dreams of a talking black '83 Trans Am in my garage*

Prepare yourself for many hours of frustration ('What!? MORE rust?'), confrontration (with the SeatCover), manipulation ('But Honey, every Rand I put into this car is an investment in our happines!') and amputations (so be careful with the Stanley knife, angle grinder - and an angry Seat Cover! )

But never, ever forget the dream of a Sunday summer afternoon cruise along a Western Cape mountain pass...

CONGRATS!!! And keep us frequently updated with your progress.

(Can't wait to hear Blitz's comments... )

Yup, they are apparently quite rare.

When the pictures were first posted here, I was hoping that someone would save it, as it's really a nice restoration project. I'm glad that it fell into the right hands, dirk certainly is very passionate about Fastbacks, and Chris and BAB certainly do know their tricks when it comes to old Vw's :D

Well, I do hope that you are going to lower the fasty, lowered Type 3's are always cool :hangloose:

Any clue what the VIN numbers are? It looks like a pre '68, that has the later '68-'69 style doors (handles are very similar to the '68+ Beetles ).

I can't wait to see how it turns out

Nice one Dirk!!

P.s - Really need to start my project thread soon, have plenty pics of all the work that I have done so far

Well, there is good news and bad news.

The good news first:

The Fasty is home, safe and well. We had some trouble of Friday afternoon, but with the help of Chris, his brother Jean, HR and Vader we sorted it out and got her parked properly.

Now the bad news.
In Murphy's truest form and fashion, I was informed today that my Project manager and another fellow Software Engineer has resigned from our company. That leaves me as the main man, which means my work load will triple almost immediately and remain that way until we can find replacements.

This has the knock on effect of my Fasty taking a back seat almost the moment it arrived. :(
One day I will find this Murphy guy and kick him to within an inch of death, I'll leave him there and give Chris a call to come and finish the job ;)

As a last note: If any of you know of C++ developers that are looking to make a move, get them to send me their CVs.
