Bought in Jan 08 in Cape Town from a guy called Chris.....

Dropped off in April for some work after fuel flooded the garage....After some surgery.....(lots) - New cab floor, rebuild rear cargo floor around doors from accident damage, filled the huge hole in the engine cover...etc

Then the engine was cleaned and a few shinny parts added....and then fitted in.

Then the paint and this is where she is at the moment.....

add more pictures as we complete more work.

Thanks guys.....the top is pearl white and looks great. With prep, white base coat and the top colours with 2 clear coats over the top of all that....circa R22k (all in including labour & materials). That excluded the interior painting.

I'm not sure on the Mags....like FUCHS but not sure I can fit onto the standard hubs. Wanted something chrome but any suggestions / ones for sale would be good to hear as currently "MO" is running on the standard steel rims.

The buggie is the shop owners.....along with 2 bettles.....

Update....and not good news  . Last week went to see the bus and checked out the finish of the paint. Unfortunately on very close inspection  found that there were some issues that had to be sorted. There were some spots that had been missed, some runs, bits under the paint, etc. I also saw places that had small dents that I had not asked to have sorted before spraying. :zhelp:

Brian has been good though, we walked around the bus and made a list of all the things that I wanted changing. So you can imagine.....today when I popped by, thinking the windows might be in, I was speechless :o to see that we had moved backwards . The bumpers are off, lights out, engine cover off, newspaper masking off parts and primer / polishing compound covering the sad looking "MO". :(

I had totally misunderstood the amount of work that I had now asked for so I'm just going to have to be more patient :?

I didn't take any new pictures so here's one from before we started disassembly again....

ImageImage

It's the back as that's what most people are going to be following :flash: ...........at max 80 kph.

I hope for better news next week, as I really want "MO" back now as I'm building the interior myself and I need to start making and fitting if I'm going to be on the road this summer. I really want to meet some of the great people on this forum.....I just can't bring myself to drive the Golf to events.....will make me sadder seeing others with super cool rides!!!! :hangloose:

Update....great news, the guys have actually been pulling all the stops out. The bus was sanded down (the issues) and has been resprayed already. The light, bumpers, etc are all back on and the boss thinks that it might be ready for collection in 2 weeks.

Your very excitedly....
