My father had a 1965 or 66 VW bus and a 1965 bug. I think this jack may have belonged to one of these two. It has 'Bilstein' cast into it. The jack works on a friction type system.
Can someone tell me more?

Bus.
EDIT: I just peeked at the thumbnail when I answered this.
I've just opened it up.
It is different to my Fleetline, and also to my, oh wait, I haven't unveiled that yet...
It does not look like any of the bug jacks here either.
I do however still think it is a bus jack.

All the bus jacks I have seen were screw type.
There are several different friction type jacks that were supplied with Beetles and Type3s. I'd guess it's a Beetle jack. How high is it? That will tell you for sure.

My '59 Ghia came with one of those. I know that doesn't answer your question, but thought I'd add my 2 cents worth!

Got one of those in my Type 3 notch, so maybe it's a T3 jack.

Here's a pic I just took of the different VW jacks I have in my workshop. All are made by Bilstein:
L-R:
Split bus jack, screw type, German, length 55cm;
Split bus jack, screw type, Brazilian, length 56cm;
Beetle jack, friction type, 60s?, length 43cm;
Beetle jack, friction type, 50s? length 42cm.

Splits, screwing, length, Brazilians, and friction...you'd think we were comparing our evenings rather than our jacks.

Well, do any of you know Jack Schitt?
For some time many of us have wondered just who is Jack Schitt? We find ourselves at a loss when someone says, "You don't know Jack Schitt!" Well, thanks to my genealogy efforts, you can now respond in an intellectual way.
Jack Schitt is the only son of Awe Schitt. Awe Schitt, the fertilizer magnate, married O. Schitt, the owner of Needeep N. Schitt, Inc. They had one son, Jack.
In turn, Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt. The deeply religious couple produced six children: Holie Schitt, Giva Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Bull Schitt, and the twins Deap Schitt and Dip Schitt.
Against her parent's objections, Deap Schitt married Dumb Schitt, a high school dropout.
After being married 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt divorced. Noe Schitt later married Ted Sherlock, and, because her kids were living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was then known as Noe Schitt Sherlock.
Meanwhile, Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt, and they produced a son with a rather nervous disposition named Chicken Schitt. Two of the other six children, Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt, were inseparable throughout childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony. The wedding announcement in the newspaper announced the Schitt-Happens nuptials. The Schitt-Happens children were Dawg, Byrd, and Hoarse. Bull Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy with his new Italian bride, Pisa Schitt.
Now when someone says, "You don't know Jack Schitt," you can correct them
