1970 Westfalia
This is my latest addition to the collection.
Its a 1970 Westfalia. This bus has been around for several years in the Cape, but now it is finally mine.
Paul and myself went to fetch it earlier this month. It had stood for quite a while, so the drive back was a little difficult due to a partially blocked carburettor from vrot petrol, but otherwise all good.
So a quick cleaning of the carburettor and a polish up of the original paintwork has got this bus looking great again. Nothing further needs to be done mechanically, all is original and still in great shape.
The paintwork is also still original, but the rims and bumper have been powder coated. It is not the correct white, so I will spray these the correct white in due course. The curtains are not original either, these must go. I must still do a little research on the correct material and source some.
Interior wise is still absolutely beautiful and preserved.
Here are some pics.

Great bus, congratulations Sean. I'm glad it was still in the country for you to acquire.

I will be there, but not sure what bus yet.Madbones wrote:Nice Westy Sean congrats are you coming to KKK with it? Also what number Westy is yours on the back seat plate? Would be interesting to see what numbers we have in ZA mine is #0155
I will double check, but I am sure there is no plate on mine. I am not that familiar with the Westy numbering system.

Re: 1970 Westfalia
Looking nice. Congratulations. Saw some Westfalia type material at Kehl's a few years ago.
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.

Re: 1970 Westfalia
There is usually (not always) a Westfalia ID plate on the bottom LHS (FIF) of the cabinet below the folding bed/seat. It states Westfalia model (SO67R in this case), production year, and serial number.sean wrote:I will be there, but not sure what bus yet.Madbones wrote:Nice Westy Sean congrats are you coming to KKK with it?
