Each to his own, but for me I prefer any Beetle pre elephant feet tail lights and any bus up till bay window. However I do appreciate any classic vehicle in good original condition, like this one seems to be.

Re: Pampoen
Do you own one? You don't perhaps feel gay driving it? A notchback must be the worst out of the Type 3's. I hope you don't own a Notchback.
I suppose I must just clarify my hatred for these. I actually hate Volkswagen all together, truly a rubbish brand. I hate all their cars, especially Type 3's and Type 4's . I just like kombis. Pity they are a Volkswagen.

Re: Pampoen
Nice car. Uitenhage was the only factory outside Germany who assembled type 4 cars. Combined German and Uitenhage production was around 367000. This is less than Karmann Ghia production. About 3 million type 3 cars were made worldwide.
The short stroke 1700LE fuel injected has a very wide power range, Max torque of 132Nm at 2700rpm, 80hp at 4900 rpm, redline around 5500rpm. The manual version easily does 160kph. Mine consistently gets 10l/100km while loaded doing 130kmh...(and some speed fines). Slowing down to 100-110kmh gets 8l/100km. (12k/l).
Lots of legroom, no invading "transmission tunnel" or console. I like to stretch out my left leg while driving long distance, always hated that cramped pedal space when driving my late father's BM's and Merc.
VW paid Carozzeria Pininfaria to design the styling. Well... that is not the car's strongest point. At least the side view is not too bad, and dashbord is nicer than most cars. That's the part i see while driving, and i dont care what others think of my car. In fact i think some other people drive extremely ugly cars, like the Juke.

Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.

Re: Pampoen
Looks very nice and in great condition. I have always liked the orange VW used and even considered it for my Lolette.
There should not be much work if any?
I like the name Pampoen, it just fits.
