Snitch (Maatjien@@ier) on the forum

Post by eben »

Apparently a South African on the forum has been giving details of busses for sale in the Offered section to Scott Wilson in the UK.
I'll be going through the web-logs when I get a chance and will take the appropriate action. If I cannot find the person reponsible I will have to reconsider the need for the Offered section.

I don't know what the other forum members think, but personally I feel that we cannot do without the offered section.......

Guys,

There was a gentleman with a silver KG at the show, standing close to Christn that told me about some dude that is willing to match export prices if we learn about a bus being exported.

Anyone know his name? Perhaps even the name of the guys that is willing to match the offers?

BTW. Apparently the gent is a South African that doesn't want to see busses leave.

Tar and feather the mofo. Hang him by his knuts, and throw him to the zimbabwians. Any idea who or where he's from?

Eben, I think it's great that you work so hard to keep cars for sale in this local acvw community, but dropping the Offered forum would be counterproductive. If I didn't have the Offered forum as the first port of call, I'd go straight to gumtree/junk mail/auto trader, which are visible to the whole world.

We won't ever be able to keep determined exporters/foreigners out of the Offered forum, but we can exclude most of them. And meanwhile we have a relatively closed space to make cars available to forum members first, before advertising them where all can see them.

Damn,

Sorry guys, I didn't realise you are such a sensitive bunch. Next time I'll bring my flower arrangements to the bug run. I guess I can't sell my stuff to Peter Berry either then?!?

Cheers,
John

p.s. Can you please post the contact details for Scott in the UK? :)

Just kiddin' ok.

I completely understand the sensitivity around this matter. Even though I am pro-choice, what you guys are trying to do is very noble and it deserves respect.

I don't understand actually. It's about the VW, not about what we see or have here in SA. If the VW goes to a good home, an enthusiast, and a guy who is going to spend GBP or USD on it to keep it going, who cares where it survives, the point is, it survives. If it is lying in a rust heap somewhere with no hope of any ZAR being spent on it, it's better, no? ACVW enthusiasm is international, not just South African. I get loads of bits and spares and stuff from overseas, so what's the difference? There is some Swedish Type 34 driving around without pop out window latches, because they are in South Africa now...
