I bought this radio recently. i'm not sure of the exact year but it plays FM

Looks like an old Blaupunkt (is that a blue dot to the left of the dial?) Fitted to early 70's Mercs, but looks perfect in your Ghia, cool!

that's right Pine, it is an old Blaupunkt with a blue dot to the left of the dial. it's got an aux in at the back of the radio. I also got a Blaupunkt box with a 6v input and 12v output. I'm also not sure what to do about the antenna. I don't want to drill holes in the body.

Hi Didi,

I've been thinking about the antenna thing myself and believe I have found a rather good solution.

On the fasty I'm dismantling, there is a duct in the roof that leads from the dash area, this duct leads to the roof light on the left side of the car.
Interesting thing about this duct... an old style flexible areal will fit inside it, along with all the other wires. Now from what I understand about electrical signals, as long as that light isn't switched on, you should not have any interruption of the reception. and you'd be able to make the aerial to radio connection inside the car, without drilling a single hole.

I've inspected the fasty for this very thing and found that all the clamps wire there to support such a solution.

I don't know on the KG, but I'm definitely going to give it a shot on the Notch.

That is if I find a radio for it.

Are you guys aware of the aerials you can buy that you stick to the inside of your winscreen? It consists of the same aerial wire you find attached to a normal aerial, but then the reception bit is a thin copper strand inside what is best described as a piece of clear cellotape that you stick to your window. I have used it on my beach buggy and it worked well until me radio/cd player filled up with rainwater...

Do you remember where you got the ariel as I'm looking for one for the bus? I don't want to really drill one into the body work. I looked in MIDAS but nothing close.

I thought of that Ron but I need to make a whole in the roof, but I've just had the lining put in and if I touch it....it's a nightmare to refit or costs a small fortune.

We went to Irene Farm (a working dairy farm) It's a nice place to go for a picnic.

In my bug, I have my aerial lieing in the front end sticking out thru a hole above the drivers side front tyre. Not perfect but reception is decent and you cant see it unless you climb under the car

I stillthink it was Midas, but if you have an old aerial, you can make one yourself! All you need is the wire from the radio to the aerial, snip it off, solder a thin wire strand and stick it carefully to the windscreen with cellotape...

I put a wire antena from midas in the bonnet. Works fine, thanks for the tip
