Black convertible

Post by jmvv »

While browsing through some old pictures, I came upon this. It was taken at abreakfast run in 1985/6.
Can anybody identify the car and does anybody know if it still survives?

That car was stunning with an incredibly detailed engine bay.

BAB that is the Orange Cabriolet and it was never owned by Rusty his mate the Kurt meyer who had the German Restaurant in Edenvale it was his

But before Kurt bought it it belonged to Chris Labushagne and it wone a few Prises at one of the Bugfests and

Chris Rusty Kurt and a few of the Then RAND BEETLE CLUB members had a few of these :drunks: :drunks: after the show and Chris still joked and said it will look cool Chopped and all joked and said Yes

The next moment The W/Screen was out and Chris was cutting the Front window frame

The next year it was Orange still with the Porsche Fuchs on the Cabrio

The Reason I know this is that My Dad was the Chairman of the Old age home and Chris was the Handy man there and the Rand Beetle Club had a Club house on the Old age homes premmises

I saw that cab (The Orange one) the Other day at Volks Engine Change for a Service and still looking marvelous

BAB scan those pics pls

Kurt Meyer had a Red 1.9 WBX beetle also that he used to take with the Orange one to shows and the Orange one had a Number plate that Said

I knew Mark here in Vereeniging - was a friend of my brother's. Went to a few BUGFEST'S with them. Called us "Dutchmen" all the time. GREAT parties - drinking beer at 05H00 in the morning :drunks: .

At the time Mark was driving a white "oval" with a 1900 big-bore motor, twin DEL's on if I remember correctly.
