I guess the next step is for you to check out Beach Buggy Club SA. They have monthly runs and stuff. I was a member for about 10 years but they are still going strong. Maybe you'll like it.

Let's say I outgrew them. My interest in the buggy club was always fun and technical, but the technical part wasn't there, and when my interest in ACVWs grew beyond the buggy, they didn't share my interest, so I eventually had better things to do with my time than to socialise with the club. I still occassionally join them for a run.
I'm an expat worker, so I don't have much time at home... I was with them for 10 years, 10 good years. They are a nice bunch.
