Outsurance pays for tracker installation???
Hey all this post has arisin from yet another poor souls bug bein ripped off and nicked by some unscrupulous individuals.
As i was readin thru todays posts i came along yet another stolen bug, this got me thinkin, i heard recenty that outsurance will pay to have a tracker installed on your vehicle, now i dnt know how true this claim is or what the details are, would anyone be able to find out what the parriculars are from outsurance and let the rest of us know?
This might be the thing we need to keep our rides safe and catch the f#*kers red handed.
Just a thought use it dnt use it?

Re: Outsurance pays for tracker installation???
I have one of those on my bakkie. It is the cell kind, They installed it about 2 years ago. Also got discount on my premium for the monthly cost. If I remember there was no installation cost. Have to sign a 3 year contract though, but you can transfer the tracker to another vehicle for about R500. Only thing is, it was a promotion so may not be available anymore.

Re: Outsurance pays for tracker installation???
Last I checked Outscrewus didn't cover vehicles older than 15 years. So, if you have a beetle...

Yep they do. But you gotta sign up a 2,3yr contract. At a discounted rate. Sadly our rides are covered, they do offer a policy that covers fire, theft n 3rd party, think its called classic outsurance or somthing....

Re: Outsurance pays for tracker installation???
They do cover vehicles older than 15 years.
There are two options, one at the book value (which usually does not amount to much), but the main thing is this gives you fire, theft and third party protection as well. However, if you get your car valued by a certified valuer, they will ensure at or close to this value, and if the value is high enough, you might be compelled to get a Tracker or anti-hijack device by Outsurance themselves.
MY 2c.

OUTSURANCE pays you not to claim, and doeosn't pay you when you do.
My buddy had his 58 insured to the value of R25000 (OUTSURANCE) after a front smash (right off) they offered him R5000 and told him he could keep the heap of metal. WTF
He is currently trying to calim from the other patry involved.

If I have learned anything in the last couple of days,it's that if insurance agrees to an amount to insure for,and they accept your money, they have to honour that contract.
Tell your friend he must ride them!

Yes, don't give up on insurance companies. You need to see things from their point of view before you can take them on.
An insurance company is a business. They are in it to make money, not to pay money out. The person who signs the pay-out cheques has to justify all the pay-outs or lose their bonus or even get fired. In my experience, the first offer is always a lowball. If you want them to increase their offer, you have to JUSTIFY your demand. To do this, all you need do is collect several ads for similar vehicles in similar condition in the price range you are seeking. I have found that after seeing this kind of evidence they are happy to pay out a higher figure. The guy who signs the cheque has his objective justification for the pay-out and everyone is happy.

Re: Outsurance pays for tracker installation???
I've done some research the last 2 days in conection with tracking.I came accross a company in Gauteng that can supply us with tracking devices for our cars.
The product is small, about the size of a cellphone, and works via gprs. It's installed in the vehicle by yourself and comes with instructions.
The system works like this: It is in sleep mode and will update the last position every couple of minutes. This period is determined by you.
If the vehicle is stolen, you sms the car and it will tell you where it is.
Another feature is a sms cut-out option where you send a code to the unit and it cut's the electrics like the power to the coil or distibutor or a fuel solenoid.
It will constantly send sms' about it's location.
The unit will cost around R1600-R1700 and is a once off payment with no monthly fees. All you need to do is make sure there is enough credit on the sim card.It can be recharged via the internet or from an atm.
Please let me know who will be interested and we can order them.

Re: Outsurance pays for tracker installation???
My buddy has been fighting them tooth & nail, and have tried every trick to avoid any payment, from telling him there is no police report & that he has no evaluation informing them of the value of the car before he smashed it to a conflicting report from the other party involved, the last time I spoke to him he had contacted the ombadsman (sp??)

Re: Outsurance pays for tracker installation???
Insurance companies will only pay out third party claims if their client admits liability. Otherwise forget it. Suing the other party helps to get them to own up and put pressure on their insurance co. We had this last year when a little 19 yr old snot in a car owned by his mommy's company ran a stop sign and hit G's Yaris. We had to claim off our insurance as the little runt wouldn't man up and own up. But we took him to small claims court for the excess and won (claim limit R7,500), and mommy had to write us a cheque from her trust account.calooker wrote:My buddy has been fighting them tooth & nail, and have tried every trick to avoid any payment, from telling him there is no police report & that he has no evaluation informing them of the value of the car before he smashed it to a conflicting report from the other party involved, the last time I spoke to him he had contacted the ombadsman (sp??)
