I just got a mail that the wharehouse has recieved stock on "kadron 4 into 1" exhausts never seen one so dont know how good/bad they are price is R460-00 including vat anyone know anything about them ?

Googled this and guys seem not to be chuffed about a certain model from this manufacturer. UK seem to pump them out in numbers though, but then which model does/will GW have?

I have a few CSP bits too, but just for your info, CSP products are beyond the reach of most South Africans due to their price. The Python for example, is rediculously expensive once converted to Rands.

They are not exactly cheap when priced in Pounds Sterling either!

I have vague, but possibly inaccurate recollections, of 4 Rand being approximately equivalent to 1 Pound Sterling, back in 1980!?!

By the way, how is the murder rate in South Africa these days? We haven't heard from our South African friends in Krugersdorp, for several years, so feared they might have succumbed to the reported increase in violence and murder!

Have you tried picking up the phone and contact them?The last time I checked,the youth in the UK is taking over and has no respect for anything.Violence is at an all time high,and more and more children are arrested with concealed weapons like knives and the like.

Hmm! I remember Lord Roberts and Lord Kitchener, both of whom were involved in the Boer War as I recall and later in the First World War. The two officers' messes, at the Royal Military College of Science, in Shrivenham, on the Oxfordshire-Wiltshire border, near Swindon, are named after Roberts & Kitchener. I was a member of Kitchener Hall in 1990/91.

Sadly, there is no such thing as a civilised war and some are particularly brutal, involving both combatants and civilians. I recall that during our 1980 tour of northern South Africa, the mayor of Heilbron took us on a tour of the town, including the cemetary, where civilians from the Boer-War concentration camp were buried, having died from dysentery, cholera or other enteric diseases, commonly associated with living in unsanitary conditions. I don't think the British military authorities intended this to happen, but it would have been of no consolation to the victims, their families or friends.

Communication with our friends (oneof them a lawyer and part-time police officer) in Krugersdorp, was solely by letter, whom my father had first billeted with in circa 1972, when he travelled during the sanction years, at the invititation of the South African Judo Association, to South Africa & Rhodesia, as medical oficer cum deputy team manager, to a British judo team. I vaguely recall that the team included either one or both of the Olympic contestants, Brian Jacks and Dave Starbrook.

I have not had information direct from people living and working in South Africa, so the impression created by press coverage tends to be mostly negative, because that is what creates "newsworthy" copy. In common with Great Britain, the civilised, peaceful parts of South Africa, probably form the majority. Admitedly, my question about the murder rate, was probably not in the best taste, but it does reflect the impression created by press coverage.

My own perception of Great Britain, from our own news coverage, is that violent crime, partly fuelled by excess alcohol consumption and narcotics, has increased in recent years; particularly involving knives and firearms. The injury & death rate amongst the under-25s, is rather disturbing! I never thought I would see the day, when British police officers habitually carried firearms, but there are now an increasing number of specialist, mobile firearms units which are summoned to incidents where the possession of firearms is suspected.
