'59 finally getting sorted to be sold (sniff!)

Post by dsan »

After nearly sitting for 2 years, the time has come to get this on the road.

Battery was pulled out last night and put on charge. plugged back in this morning and she cranked over on the 4th time after not going for 7 months (correctly stored in the garage btw). It's at the mechanics this week for a service and all bits checked for COR. Auto eleccy is sorting out the abortion that is the bonnet. Love it when previous owners do their own wiring whilst on acid and in the dark.

Once all the mechanics are done, she is off to the body shop to have all rust, dents and cuts sorted and a fresh coat of paint (L358 Garnet Red).

Then it's the interior, full leather with carpets and sound proofing.

I'll post the images during each stage. The fun part will be bringing all the spares back from London every few weeks

Most of the chrome will be removed on the body. The idea is to have it more minimal in looks, obviously the bumpers will be chrome, but where possible the rest will be the original colour and clean lines.

Semaphores will be fixed and reinstalled once the replacement parts are picked up in london.

Car just dropped off at auto electrician. Luckily he is an older guy who loves classic cars, so knows exactly what to do. Small design problem with the rear snowflake. Because the old owner had decided to make the snowflake the brake/indicator function and then add a trailer light as the driving light (next to it), we need to work out the best way of being functional and looking good. Also he will wire the semaphores to function correctly but off another switch.

Does anyone have any working semaphores they are willing to part with?

I somehow suspect that someone parting with working semaphores is a long shot, but good luck anyway.

I like the car, I would love to see how it will turn out!!

Electrical Update

The previous owner did such an abortion with the wiring, it is being stripped out and redone. This will include:
  • New Bosch fuse box
  • New wiring all over
  • Semaphores wired up to separate switch
  • rear snowflake lights working as single light/brake and indicator
  • anti-theft breaker unit installed
  • All cable in the bonnet will be neatly channel and housed in aircraft style wiring harnesses
The rear light issue has been a problem. Ideally i wanted both the semaphores and rear indicators/front indicators to all function at once, but that won't happen. This is the best compromise we can come up with.
