If I dare draw some parallels between the beetle and the golf, both popular, both cult cars to various generations, both defining a genre (Beetle, cheap reliable transport - for the time), GOLF - Start of the hot hatch with the GTI.
I wonder what a good Mk1 Golf will be worth 20 years from now? - Perhaps we should all buy one now and keep as an investment.
Case in point, my 2nd car was a green CITI Chico, bought if for around R25K in 1999 (IIRC) ( It was a 96 model), sold it in 2003/4 for R26K, and I see those same type of cars for sale now for around the same price?! How many other cars can say that!
