1600 TP tappet settings?

Post by Merlin »

Anyone? My dad's at Home, bored on his leave I presume, and wants to know the tappet settings for the '66...anyone?

Cheers, N.

The original factory setting for TP engines is .004in exhaust & inlet. SP engines called for .006in.

I personally set all 1600 engines to .006in for safety's sake.

This is for all SA Beetles. Set on a cold motor.

1200 (51-65) In. 0.20mm Ex. 0.30mm
1300 (66-79) In. 0.15mm Ex. 0.15mm
1500 (67-70) In. 0.10mm Ex. 0.10mm
1600 (69-last SA) In 0.15mm Ex. 0.15mm

This was Factory Spec from Germany. As SA is a lot hotter you could comfortably get away with 0.10mm on you car.

Cheers
