Re: What did you do on your car today?
Bought my new gauges and started building my new buggy dashboard. If I could find the camera, I would take pics.

tried my luck on making my own cane parcel tray. did not like the way it was woven were i took my frame so i ripped it apart and wove it myself.
looks much beeter, all i need to do is send it away to wrap the frame with the flat cane.
also worked on a special gear knobfor my bug.
will post pics wen done

Went to Ferdi's, bought EMPI sill covers (thanks Rui). Made a housing for my radio to mount under my dash, will also house my lock/unlock buttons for my central locking...
From fastest to slowest:
Birkin race car, not much is standard
Lotus Elise 111R, almost everything is standard
'75 SP 1600 with a few mods
B8 A4 Avant tdi, towing made easy

Pic as proof...Ron&Gill wrote:Gill's bus... eish..
Pulled the motor, pulled the gearbox, offered up the new longer beetle gearbox, 'tis as they say, 40mm too long (old news), modified the gear box mount, modified the nose cone, offered it up again, re-designed the fancy-fix-it-all-plate from EMPI, sorted, but that was over the last couple of days.
Today I took the design to Dave who will fabricate the new plate for me, better design with a nylon interface to reduce noise. But, the big job was fitting the vacuum assisted brake booster and plumbed it in. All good, but can't bleed brakes yet because the brakes are elsewhere...
Gill says I'm scoring huge browny points...![]()
Had lots of help from TonyZ yesterday...
