anyone ever tried a plasma cutter on glass. Dont think it would work too well but just curious... where's shane, he likes trying the crazy stuff :twisted:
From fastest to slowest:

Birkin race car, not much is standard
Lotus Elise 111R, almost everything is standard
'75 SP 1600 with a few mods
B8 A4 Avant tdi, towing made easy

The sandblasting route works. I also saw a thread on thehamb forum where a guy uses an ordinary masonary diamond cutting disc with lots of water to do it.

A Plasma Cutter wont work. Plasma Cutting is like a welding process. In other words, you need an Earth connection to make the Plasma "spark". And as you know, glass dont conduct electricity :lol:

No??? The arc is inside the plasma cutter. no earth needed???

No if you had a look at the 1st pick then you would see how the grass grew throughout the whole car once was out it moved real easy.

I dont know what version of plasma cutter you are using dude, but if you can get mine to work without an earth, I will give you a gold star and perhaps even lick....... nevermind!

Besides, if you COULD get a plasma cutter to spark on Glass, it wont work.... YOu will crack the glass with the intense heat that a plasma generates..... And if you dont crack it(which I doubt) you will melt the plastic anti-shatter film in the glass sandwich. So, I think of the ideas floating here, you might just get away with the sandblasting(although, "melting away" glass with sand will also generate heat). If it is not controlled........... "CRACK" BYE BYE Window :?
