Re: eye care

Post by IMPI »

Hi all
Saw the specialist today
Toldm that the retina is attaching well but it will be 2 months before the oil is removed then another 2to 3 months before he will do further surgery and replace the lens and remove a cataract. this will then lead to further surgery to my other eye as the one will now be so much better that the brain will not be able to cope with the differnt signals.

As to why this all happened: I have been nearsighted all my life and am wearing glassis since I was 8. apparently the shape of a nearsighted persons eyes puts great strain on the retina making a nearsighted person more suseptible to this kind of problem. I have never had any traumas to the eye or any operations so it is a bit of a mystery as to why it happened now maybe age has something to do with it. Strangely in the 36 years of being nearsighted no one ever told me of this risk! hence the idea of this post.
Thanks for all the wishes from everybody.
Armand

Recently I noticed that the 70% vision I retained from the first stuff up has been getting worse went for a check up. R4500 for this check up I should have studied....
Turns out that in order to get back to the 70% I need two further operations.
The first which happens on wednesday will be to add a pressure relief valve in the eye in order to controll intra occular pressure. since I have had the operation I was warned of the possibility of a cataract forming and this has happened hence the clouding up of the vision. (according to the folder in the eyedrops that I have been forced to take they can also cause this. So on National drive your VDub day and my youngests birthday I will be having a new lense implanted. If all goes well I would then need thinner glasses but not full sight restoration.
Wish me luck please
