It's not broken yet but you can feel it is only running with half of it's usual strength and you can hear the snapped cables rubbing when you use it. I'll put it out tomorrow and have a good look

4 hours later, numerous swear words in both english, mandarin, thai and polish, chunks taken out of my fingers and arms and I have..

As expected it had broken, but not all the way through, which was handy as it allowed me to get home. Installation wasn't that bad, the hardest part was getting the hook onto the pedal whilst it was in the tube. I'd hate to have been a factory worker as that was a bitch.
Thanks for all the help

I think this thing is possessed with some bad christmas spirit. The carb is by far one of the worst i've ever had. Ran fine today until 4pm when it decided to no longer play ball. missing, spluttering, hesitating at low rev's and refusing to idle.
got her home, TDC, 7.5 degrees and little light pops. Volume/Bypass screws both back to starting point (2 1/2 turns out) and still the miserable **** won't idle or run nicely.
Now if everyone could get back to work and the world can carry on, i'd appreciate it so I can have a working bloody car.

Re: bah hum(bug)
Well done on replacing that cable. Definately in the nick of time!
Pity to hear about the bulb, I have a slight inclination of how irritating it can be not to get the parts you need.
Drove to 5 different shops monday to get longer wheel bolts, NADA, no-one had, and the places that should have, are all closed till the 4th...
Good Luck!
