I've been trying to get the thing running as cool as possible, Durban isn't exactly cool this time of year. This has involved adding a newer fan housing with the more modern oil cooler, which results in air not being blown all over number 3 and co.
So far it's not bad, but time will tell. Other than that, keeping it running and fixing crap from people driving into the back.
What are you doing to your car these days?

And I did replace the headlights a while ago. Had to replace the entire unit as I could not get the semi sealed lenses that were on before. Lucky found a used set that I could recycle.

well recently i wanted to drive the beetle off a cliff
. i would probably hav suceeded if the bl**dy thing could start and if the rear tyre stop going flat
the little something i got myself, 38 weber downdraught with scat manifold, sandblasted, electro cleaned, new gaskets etc etc u saw the pics
was fitted on saturday. that meant the entire engine came out (rear main seal replaced
), manifolds taken off and engine refitted with the weber. only to discover that my engine lid now canot close even without the filter. to top things off it swings, theres spark, theres fuel but no start. (could be the timimg). the lame mechy said that he rather not touch the carb's adjusters as it is a specialised job.
i think he said this coz it was nearing to 7.30pm and his wife kept calling
what ive learnt in the past when in these situations is to put all tools down and step away from the vehicle.
