A friend of mine built this Beetle.
It's a 54 with an 1.8 Golf engine,Porsche Fuchs and Porsche brakes. It does 14 secs on the 1/4 mile and my mate runs out of balls at 235km/h.
Damn,I'm good!

The front and side windows looks to big for a oval.
The door are also not right. Just me opinion.

235 in a beetle is not something I would willingly want to experience...

He'd probably get another few kms without those eyelids on.
Life begins at 80 and ends shortly after in a temporary court on the side of the road.

Me neither, but this guy is 2types short of a Type4
I told him he's nuts but he's the same guy that ran a Bay window at 213km/h/.To him it's all fun.

That's a 54 like Paladin's Fleetline is a 54. It's a 70s Beetle with the oval rear window and engine vents grafted in.
I call BS on 235km/h. I'll believe it when I see it. I really don't believe a Beetle can get to speeds like that and stay on the road.

Then I guess Paladin's Bus is a 54.
There was a dvd made about this Beetle at Tarlton.About 5000 people saw it going through the 1km mark at that speed.
I'm sure Bugger would also love to disagree with you.

OK if it was recorded on the drag strip. But then it wouldn't go faster because he would run out of road, not balls. I got the impression from the way you expressed it that he was sustaining that on the open road, which is what I doubt.
And if it's really a 54 chassis then he's grafted an awful lot of bodywork from a 65> beetle.
I haven't seen it so what I wrote is obviously ignorant BS.

First of all,it ran that speed at Tarlton.Secondly,he said he got it up to that speed on the highway and then got scared going beyond that.I was mearly stating that other people saw it doin that speed. And thirdly..

...I did mention the fact that it was/is an Oval he saved from being becoming scrap by rebuilding the nose from 63 parts and maybe even 65 parts.
There are other members on this forum that knows him well and know the kind of work he is capable off.
