Nice way to hack an oval :hangloose: if I was forced, by big scary looking men, with a gun to my head....

But seriously, any modified 50 year+ old car that can do that sort of speed, kudos.

It's obviously the front scoop keeping it on the road, didn't y'all see the vintage feature in Volksworld last month?

I know Ralph for quite number of years and the speed was clocked with a GPS if I remember correct so the top end was done
The 14s was also done by Tarlton a while back

The fastest official timed bug in SA is a 238 or a 244Km/h as I can remember from Rudi Smith done on standing to 1Km pass also quite a while back

Withthe right stuf done to the right bug you will maintain a 220 but it does get scary after a while

That the reason why I would like to see at Speed week what is maintainable with the Fly If everything pans and would like to break the 250  so I am buzy eating hormones to grow my B :jerkoff: LLs for the attempts

Hey Bugger, growing them bigger is one thing - it's that microdecrystifibrotripolyphsiphotodiensis process to convert them to steel that's a problem. Seriously that's the only thing holding me back

The speed on tarlton and the ET of 14 seconds dont seem to match up. From my view if he was doing that speed the ET would be more like a low 12 or high 11, if not quicker

I agree with fig - Late bug with grafted in oval window - too obvious with big windows. Maybe the time are strange on the strip but i could see it doing 235 with a hi po golf motor. Just would be all over the place - my bug at 160+ (havent done it for years though) seemed to feel veeery light and its almost on the floor with some wide rubber and hard suspension !

Keen to seen some bugs at speed week !

Springer, you don't know what you are talking about and neither have you read any of the posts above.

Somedays I hate this sight because people shoot their mouths off without knowing the facts.Wonder why I bother posting here anymore.

Bugger's Bug has gone faster than that before and this guy has proof of what is saying including the speed ran on GPS like Bugger confirmed.

You guys just know how to spoil a good thread.

Indeed. It's a conspiracy. No one went to go and spoil Dutch's thread with that awful, plain jane Oval Ragtop and say that it's glityz like a freakin Christmas tree on Christmas day.

I would drive this red Oval over that raggy any day.

And no, this red one is not hacked. Please let us not be ACVW snobs.

I can't wait for the day when I get my Oval and "hack" it

Really guys, why can't we just express our points of view without people getting all offended.

I didn't know what I was talking about and I owned up to it. So what? Who cares?

If you want to participate on internet forums you need to have a thick skin and to allow people to air their views, no matter how much you disagree with them or how much their views offend you.

Fact is, we are all entitled to OUR point of view, and everyone's point of view is equally valid, no matter how much they conflict with each other.

The best way to handle these (or any) discussions is not to take anything personally (I don't think many people know how to do that) and to just ignore anything that offends you.

If you jump into an argumant when people like me stir the pot, then don't point fingers when you get offended.

Let's not fight kids. We're all here primarily for what we have in common, not our differences.

If you can't debate without getting emotional or taking things personally and wanting to storm off the site in a huff, then best keep quiet.

For my part, anyone can say anything they like to or about me and I won't take offence. The corollary is I reserve the right to say as I please and I won't take responsibility for anyone's response, especially if it is to take offence. My view is that being offended is just a big fat manipulation.

But when the facts are presented and backed by proof, why dispute it?

What are "facts" and what is "proof"?

Actually all that has been shown here is claims, even the "claims" about GPS speed reading and public witness at Tarlton.

The FACT is that the only person who KNOWS is the owner of the car. For the rest of us it is a matter of BELIEF. We have looked at the EVIDENCE (not PROOF) and have each formed our own OPINION, based on our BELIEF of what we think is reasonable.

It's truly amazing that there is no one on earth who will bother to argue about what they KNOW, but we are all of us prepared to fight to the death for what we BELIEVE, which by definition is what we DO NOT KNOW.

Just want to say that i believe that the speed is true. i had a 66 bug with a 1.8 golf motor in it and i raced a opel super boss on the highway and i stayed with it untill the boss reff limmiter cut out, and that was at 230km, no bs. the bug was not all over the place and there was no front spoiler. the bug had all bumpers and full leather trim inside. also took it to rainbow once and did 15.6 on the q.mile. ferdi.
