What did you do on your car today?

Took the blue bus out for a drive today.

Drove the fastback today to go and buy cupcakes

Replaced the speedometer and some wiring on the buggy.

Replaced the brake fluid resivour and bleed the brakes on the Ghia.

Will take the Ghia to Timor Hall tommorrow.

After visiting Timour Hall this morning with the kids in the Ghia, I decided I enjoyed the ride so much, when I got home I took the seatcover for a spin and a walk along Little and Big Bay.

Was an enjoyable day out.

got a black vdo (elec.) and chrome smith (cable) oil preasure gauges at tumhall today. took the black oil preasure gauge apart and replaced the black ring with the chrome one.

Took the tank out and then removed the old master cylinder. Added the new one and then decided to have fun trying to bleed the system. Really hard when you are doing it on your own, so need to see if Midas have one of those kits available.

Also changed the oil to Castrol Magnatec 10w40, the other stuff didn't look so good.

update:

So it seems those kits aren't readily available. Have 7mm will do it manually tomorrow, well when i've convinced the wife that it's a great thigh exercise program to help with the brakes

What did you do on your car today?

Took the day off, and gave the Khaki Cruiser a good service - plugs, points, condenser, petrol filter, timing, valves, valve cover gaskets - the works! The odometer will turn over to 100 000 km tomorrow and now she will be ready for it.

I tried something different today, made a solution of Prepsol and warm water in a bucket, and everytime my hands and tools got dirty, I rinsed them off immediately. At the end of the service everything was clean, and the plastic sheet I parked the car on prevented any oil stains on the driveway. Next time: brain surgery!

Dsan, I bought a one man brake bleed kit from Autozone. The bottle is a bit small and you have to empty it almost after every cylinde you bleed, but it works.

I make my own one man break bleeders out of some fish-tank aerator tubes and 500ml Coke bottles.

That way I don't have to empty for quite a while.

Do you have two holes in the lid or just a single one for the pipe?

One for the pipe, then I use a hot needle in order to make a small breather hole.
That way, even if you manage to kick the bottle over, not much spills out, while the airflow is more than adequate.

If you want to get fancy you take an old wire hanger,, attach it to the bottle and use the hook to hang the bottle somewhere, so that it can't just fall over. Obviously useful for storing the bottle as well.

Nee f*k my..... If I have to wash my tools everytime it gets dirty WHILE on the job, I will never get the job done!!! My friend Jacques, in the UK, already moans that I wipe my tools (no, not my balls!!! )when I am done working with them for the day!
