I left it at the sea cause it doesn't have quite enough rust on it....

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Fitted a new battery 643 yeah, so have enough juice to run the gadgetry that will find it way into him. Tried taking it in for the COR, but the idle was fuct, realised thta my idle jet switch is fried, tried sorcing a new one, no damn luck!! Grr. Running it with a high idle after settint the screws on some gas guzzling proportions, fixed the damn wiper motor and arms, yippie we have wipers! Sooo stoaked that its coming together. The headlight bulb decided to retire today, gonna get me some osram cool blues tommorow. Oh also tightened the front bumper. Looks kak but has to be on. All in all a good aircooled day.

Re: What did you do on your car today?
installed oil bypass kit. Holes on aluminum plate dont really match the block. Hole on gasket really dont match either. Outlet port has tapped 1/4" BSP and a plug supplied. hole is tapped too deep and thus the plug actually blocks the oil passages... so I had to arrange another method of blanking the hole....
Pretty up fan housing and cut it to fit properly
install carbs
test starting circuit and wire in start switch as temporary measure
test radio which was installed a few days ago
fit carbs and fan housing
fill gearbox with oil
fill engine with oil
swing over engine until filter is filled and pressure starts to build - recharge batteries (used 2 for the priming)
fit engine tin and wire up engine
organise some nice little extras that some of you might notice at George
Finally start engine - in a block of flats at 1930 without the silencer fitted - just a tad loud but sounds good!!!

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Woke up, had a small snag list to go thru...
then found a small oil leak - EMPI fan thermoswitch is leaking. Put spanner on, switch breaks off. Cannot source replacement... blank off switch and wire fan directly to ignition source.
install silencer
fit new seat covers to pretty up the inside a little
neaten up engine bay for show
start car - nothing.... turns out another compufire unit is dead - this shiv is getting expensive.
start car... synchronise carbs
test for gears in parking area and test brakes. All seems good.
Install boot lid after giving it a good clean
take for test drive - all good except I cant get enough fuel to the engine - going lean after a few seconds at full throttle
Test drive over - go visit a friend. Get to his house on other side of Cape Town....
Clutch cable breaks DAMMITits now 20:00
Tow home

Yes, I have a 64 Notch with the rare bush button dash, not been driven in almost 2 years, but found a nice roof rack for it and trial fitted it last night, needs a little modding, I will make it work.

Fitted gravel Guards on the 58 last night, found the source of a nigling oil leak. Fitted the running board trim, looking good.
