When last did you take your aircooled to work?
Yesterday morning in a moment of insanity I decided to attend our Annual General Staff meeting held at the Voortrekker monument (nice venue for corporate functions). Normally I don’t attend due to the nature of my work but this time I decided I should. The only sane thing I did was to take the oval, much fun in the early morning traffic....the usual frowns, and sour faces of fellow motorists until they see the old beetle passing them.
The instant reaction is to draw the attention of their passengers, and then all will stare and smile together, some even give you the thumbs up. And the not so reserved will give you the conventional wind down your window sign, because I want to buy your car and need to speak to you….”How much, How much…”
A friendly smile is all that they get back from me.
She even looked better in the parking lot than the other tupperware and coke tin ones.

Re: When last did you take your aircooled to work?
I tend to leave mine at work as it's far safer here than at my townhouse complex
. I try take it home on weekends but have to use it for deadlines (once a month, about 2-3 days) due to the everyday driver being used by the friend who I usually travel with. I enjoy it more that way as it's thrill to crank her up after shes sat for a while. 1st time start, every time. Also, that "old car smell" inside seems to become concentrated as it stands which adds to the experience. Got to love 'em!

My 69 bug is my daily driver! The 59 is nearly on the road and will also be used daily.

59 is the daily, we currently do about 1000 miles per month in her. Don't own any modern car and can't see this changing soon

Re: When last did you take your aircooled to work?
I drive a bus to work at least once a week. Usually I drive a bus daily, but Daisy double cab is still off the road with a stuck rear drum and The Rat has a dodgy engine, so I'm not driving it much until I get its new engine from IMPI.

Every single day again for the past 3 years...
When I get into the Renault family van, it feels as if everrything on it is made from plastic, and creaks and cracks are heard all the time... no DOEFS and KEDOEFS like from a real ACVW..

Re: When last did you take your aircooled to work?
Its been too looooooong since I last drove one of my Aircooleds to work and I miss the thumbs up and the smiles when I use the 58. July this year I had to use my Spyder to work as I had a flat in my daliy drive and the spare was shot, was not nice as it was like the coldest day ever.
For what it's worth, ignorance has no limits ......

The last time I drove the 1973 VW "1600" Type 2 Westfalia Continental to work, was during the first half of 1988, when my 1974 Triumph Toledo 1300, four-door saloon was off the road, awaiting repair or replacement of the petrol tank.
