hey gents. seeing as i'm fixing up the body work for my bug. Thought i might give her some power as well. as most of you have seen on my Noob post on idf's. I found a set of carbs from a friend. wondering if these will give me a boost in power, and if they are worth buying. They are solex and thats about all i know. and they came of a beetle s

Those are the legendary and much sought-after SP carbs. Bit of a bitch to set up, but it will be quite an improvement on your single carb.

Ensure that you got both air filters, as well as all the linkages though.

he doesn't have the linkages and only the one filter :?: thats why i ask if its worth it.

will those linkages and filters be hard to find? Think with the filter one might be able to work something out. but the linkages??

Not rocket science, the basic kinetics of changing a pulling power in one direction (the accelerator cable) by 90 degrees to 2 x pulling power towards the center (carb throttles)

you wont set any records with them, but they will free up all the power that the engine is capable of making.

Your friend actually has both filters and an extra set too.

Midas sells the sp airfilters for R40 a piece,....the linkages you could make out of ali tubing,

Those filters are not the run of the mill pan cake filters they are smaller and will cost more like R140 each, if I remember correctly the are the type used on the RWD twin carb Toyotas from the 80's :zhelp:
