Re: What did you do on your car today?
Today(well last night) I sorted the steering problem.... F'n steering 'locked up' whilst driving.
Well, not locked up completely, but enough momentarily(a number of times) where I had to get physical and wrestle the wheel around turns/straights
. Adjusted the steering box nut a little tighter and filled the 'box up with oil. Was better today, but VERY stiff(like my wife said last night
). So tonight I slackened off the nut a bit and it seems better now. Will now tomorrow morning(this morning was a real wrestle driving to work and back because I tightened the nut too much
)

Had a crazy weekend. Picked up another fastback, went to a scrapyard and scored some cool goodies, managed to find some time and do work on mine...

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Drove Ol' Betty up to Pmb today, on way up Townbush Rd, she cut. DRIVING AT BLOOODY 80!!! Went to the back, all seemed well. Went to the front, full of spares. Replaced coil, turn key, and up the hill I went. Now, the replaced coil wasn't hot to the touch
but now I can drive. I suppose the 20v stint was responsible for cooking it. Oh....by the way, regulator 'sorted' itself out, don't know how
I suppose tomorrow I go buy a spare regulator and coil. Eish...hai babo!!!

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Decided to sort out the 58's charging. I cleaned up a alternator during the week painted a pedistal & breather can, on Saturday I did a trial fit, it just looked wrong. Went into my parts stash and found another genny, cleaned it up fitted new brushes etc, etc. fitted it, changed the regulator again
Start it up, WTF .... charge light is ON
Now i'm pissed and regret not fitting the alternator.
Go to the back to find a loose wire, conect it propery and ..... charge light is off
Check voltage a little high at about 3000 rpm I'm getting 17 to 18 Volts a little high but decide to go for a drive anyway, after about 15km's the charge light come on nice and bright, again, to add insult to injury I run out of fuel a couple of km's down the road, no wallet = no cash, I'm sitting on the side of the N12 and phone the brakedown service - the wife, she is pissed that I let this happen again, yes it's not the first time.
I get it started
the charge light is on off
, decide to do a few more KM'S it comes on again, then off. I do another 40km's or so and I was not happy so I was pushing this fresh motor to see what it can realy do
I hadn't opened her up yet so yesterday was the day, whnt well past the 90 m/h and on a 1300 tranny it did it with little effort, I was a little happy again, the charge light didn't come on again, it sorted itself out?
Did an oil change again, spilt oil all over my nice tin
& on my paving, noticed the sump plate needs to be sorted has a small leak, I can live with it for now.
Sorted out the accel. cable on my Spyder, only to find that the alternator is not charging ...... closed the garage
and whent and whach TV, I'm jinxed.

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Well I realised today that the rubber cover that goes over the tow bar plug of the Khaki Cruiser has been stolen the past 24 hours, it is the SECOND one this yearWhat did you do on your car today?
It fits very snugly over the plug cover, so I know it couldn't have fallen off! Is there any other use that anyone can think of for these rubber covers, other than what it is intended for? Why would someone want to steal it, except for putting on their own tow bar plug?
The next one I'm gonna fasten with a THICK cable tie...
