Toy 2 The special project

Post by 1972 »

I got myself a type 2 :?

It is going to be rebuilt once toy 1 is done :D, at the moment i know nothing about the bus other than it had a sunroof.

Once i have the bus i will be able to determine the year and so on.

Oh yes and if anyone has a roof section with a sunroof

Will post up some more pics when it stops raining here.

You have way too much money to waste on that wreck

Good.Luck.

Rather buy that R15k Bus - Looks way more solid than this one
If it's too low, you're too old

So Havent had much time to spend on any of the projects.

Toy 2 is still sitting in the hole as the bobcat multifork-crane cant get to the bus as its been raining alot so it slips on the granite.

But got bored the otherday and decided to go play on bus-selecta.

So sort of decided on what i want, oviously as i go along some things will change but this is more or less what i want.

Image

Oviously ther will be some steps getting it to what i want it to be.

So in this order.

1. The first thing to do will be to get the bus onto wheels.
2. Remove all the "rot" from the bus and replace with some nice green pannels, and strip the bus down to metal and treated
not leaving any room for rust to apear for a very long time.
3. Have the bus sprayed in the colours chosen.
4. Start assembly and make it what i want.
5. Drop it to a SA road freindly height.

Some things i want the bus to have are...

Safari windows
delux trim
Roofrack
Custom seat setup
And whatever i think would suit the bus along the way

Duuuuude! You are insane to take that on! For an idea on costs involved to get a bus waaaaaaay better off that yours, ask Dsan, Johan above and well anybody else. I understand you are up to the challenge, and have high hopes, but duuude realistically speaking, let it go.

That at least R300k just to get it ready to restore lol.
Non the less goodeluck and may all the gods that people pray to have your back!

I kind of knew it wasnt gonna be cheap.

I made a list of all the peices im going to need and put them into the areas of the bus, that the peices rebuild, and have come to a total of what its going to cost.

So i think ive been through it enough times and ive acknowledged the fact that it will take alot of time, and alot of money.

So i think all i can ask for is :zhelp: with guidance along the way.

If anyone knows of a roof that someone has for sale i would be interested.

But other than buying a roof the bus will stand until toy 1 is done.

Alrighty mate. Coolios. Goode on ya.
I think Tom Bishop has a roof section, but its off a Bay. Not sure if it will fit your bus, and its deff.not a sunroof, and not sure if its for sale either lol. Just ask him, you may get lucky.

72" good luck with the bus oke, but trust me when i say there is no way that your calculations are even close o what its gonna cost ya, i have my own "1 2 3" theory on resto's like these.
1 = you only do this once
2 = it takes twice a long as you had planned
3 = cost you three time what you thought it would

I tip my hat for taking it on
My biggest fear is that my wife sells my cars for what i told her they cost !!

Thanks Splitfan

I havent set a time limit as " If you going to do it do it right the first time!"

Then on the $$$ side ive added extra $$$ to my final figure as I know that im not going to buy all the metal over-night.

Then ive also only looked at metal as I dont wantto make the same mistake I made on Toy 1 and buy parts before the metal is done.

So Toy 2 will be reconstructed before I buy any aesthetic parts for her.

Sorry only saw this nw.
A bay roof wont fit unfortunatly.
Am not really looking for a sunroof, roof clip.
It would be better if it was a full roof.
