Golf parts in a beetle

Short answer, welcome.
Shitty Golof engine will fit. But u will need to fit a radiator, not easy. Same with a nissan 1400 engine, these are all carb models. So basically also like a bug.

blah blah blah.... heard it all before. If you really want to reduce your carbon footprint, use public transport or buy a bicycle or a pair of decent walking shoes.

As for a good engine conversion.... take a standard 1600 beetle engine. Get it reworked properly with new heads, new valves, and get everything remanufactured correctly. End result, brand new 1600 engine. then up the Compression ratio slightly to 8:1 and stick on a new carb (stock replacement). Viola, you have an engine that will last you the next 30 years if you maintain it properly

Stick to the beetle engine, have a look at millions of webpages,beetles can, and still do,travel vast distances all across the world.
Like the other members mentioned, you have to have a well maintained engine, granted. But there is absolutely no reason to be worried that a beetle engine cannot handle it. Why do you think there are so many still around? Because they were built to last.

In your case, also consider the late 1300 dual port beetle. It has the same power as the older 1500 single port. Uses less fuel, less emissions, while driving at the same speed as a 1600. Just make sure it has'nt been modified to take 1600 pistons/sleeves.
The 1300 dual port was not much cheaper than the basic 1600, but was preferred by many companies at the time because of it's lower running cost.

If you really going aftermarket. Look at the bullet mirrors autostyle sells, they are a couple of hundred bucks, and drill into the door or slightly modded into the existing bug mount.
