G&I were at this auction today. We saw Merlin and JH there, all hoping to bid on the original VW onderdele sign. We all lost out to a Cape Town collector who paid R3,750 for it.
G&I picked up a couple of other nice signs for the collection at much cheaper prices than the VW sign. A lot of the signs went for very good prices and there were not too many buyers out on a cool, rainy morning.

I was shocked to see the prices that the signs were going for. In my ignorance I thought I would get a nice sign for R1k - R1,5k. The majority of the nice signs went for over R3k.
I ended buying small, damaged ones so I wouldn't go home empty-handed.
