Potential Swap meet

Post by werner w »

I am posting this on behalf of a friend.
He wants to find out what the general interest will be in a VW swap meet / social event / garage sale in the northern parts of Pretoria. The reason behind this is not to interfere with the other established swap meets but to create an opportunity for those of us who have some stuff that we want to get rid of (sell, donate, swap) or those of us who want to get more stuff (most of us have a natural tendency to hoard and or gather VW related items for no apparent reason).

He is willing to provide the use of his property (plot) free of charge including the amenities (toilets etc). The idea is that you bring all the stuff you want and sell / swap /trade as you wish and have a good time. He has no financial interest in this other than providing a platform for the event.
He was thinking of a date somewhere during July/August on a Saturday (Between the 75 th celebrations and Ferdi`s swap meet); please feel free to comment and provide suggestions, ideas etc.I will forward it to him.

There's definitely a need for more ACVW events. More events will help build the community, which will then generate more events.

My only comment is I think it would be a mistake to do another swap meet so close to Ferdi's. How about six months apart from Ferdi's?

Does your friend have anything planned for Cape Town? Not that I have anything to swop/donate or for that matter any cash......

Count me in. I agree with Fig - hold it 6 months after Ferdi's (similar to Piston Ring's).

Thanks for the replies, if there is any more keep posting. I will forward all ideas to Heinz (the person who wants to host the event).

I also agree with Fig, there should be more of these events but the timing should be right. I do get the idea that Heinz wants to launch the event as a test to see if it will be a viable option for an annual or even biannual event.

Definately a good idea. I'm originally from the UK and I have to say the only thing I miss is the number of shows/gatherings and the whole vibe, so if there are a few more here I'll be well happy :D :D
