This might sounds stupid... but does the 1967 super beetle radio console support modern mps players or do i need to get some sort of bracket?

The original radio opening for the 1976 S Beetle was intended for a shaft mount radio (eg Sanyo Rally, Tedelex, Sharp)

The modern radios have a standardised chassis size and are sleeve mounted. This means that you will have to cut the radio opening so the sleeve can slide in from the front,

Before you start cutting the car, make sure that the space where the radio has to slide into is deep enough to accommodate the radio when fully inserted in the sleeve. The modern radios are a lot deeper than the radios from the seventies.

On my Beetle, I used this bracket. It is still commercially available

I went the stealth option and mounted it in the glovebox............removed the housing, made a nice recessed blanking plate........

Ok... Does anyone know of someone that could do this procedure for me in JHB?

I'm from Cape Town. Gonna be picking the beetle up in JHB and driving it down to CT... gonna need some sound on the way.

I've already got the front loader. Its a SONY CDX-GT540UI Usb Mp3 cd player.

I'm busy working on the back board as well.. thinking of some Sony Explode 6x9s.
