Earlier this year the Phalaborwa Road Runners (PRRC) had to find a replacement engine for their 1975 Kombi with 382000km on the clock. Professionally rebuilt subs cost an arm and a leg so we had to go second-hand. A hardly used, complete "Competition Motors" rebuild and a sub were obtained at a very reasonable price. The Comp. sub was fitted with the existing tops and, bingo, we were back in business with 2000cc instead of 1800. The power difference is quite noticeable. We should be OK for quite a few more years!
From the leftovers we will build another engine either to keep as a spare or to sell for club funds.
