Hi everyone.
iv just become a member and i love the site... thanks to all of you..
I have recently bought a baja.. 71 beetle, and everything has been rebuilt or reconditioned so its in great shape. It has a good ground clearance at the moment because it is riding on massive cooper discoverers... but i want to drive through africa next year and so i want to raise it an extra 15cm..
how do i do this? who is the specialist in CApe town who i should speak to about this? because i imagine i have to make alterations to the front beam, and get new drive axles at the back?
how much should i expect to pay for both front and back?
thanks guys..

Re: how do i raise the suspension of my baja
Hi Nugs, and welcome to the Forum! LUVVVVV the Baja

There is a difficult and an easier route to go for lifting your Baja. Easier (yet still tricky) - put adjusters in your front beam, and raise the rear by adjusting the spring plates. A lot of the procedures involved is explained here
http://www.meyersmanx.com/garage/garage_suspend.htm
Personally I would rather go for a 'body lift kit' - basically a spacer between the chassis and the bodyshell, raising the entire body off the ground, giving bigger wheel clearance, as in the pic below. It will actually be a lot cheaper to make it yourself. You'll find a lot of help on the 'Off-road' Forum of http://www.thesamba.com
