Thanks BUGGOFF, for coming around and all the usefull info. Much appreciated.

Ok well, I change the points and condensor and was playing around with the timing. Managed to maybe get it 80% right.
She now starts without the draging.. :drunks: I thought was something major wrong. lucky not..

BUT it seems I have the wrong distributor for that motor on there. :( Forget to take the part number on the current distibutor.
Hopefully I will get one by this weekend and going to get Fred to sort out the distributor and also carb as well.

According to the webisite below, this is the distubutors and specs for my motor.

Hi Everyone..

Image

So this weekend I got another dizzy fitted and the timing set and carb adjusted. She seems to start, idle and move alot better but not 100%.

But there were some other big problems picked up and some stuff missing. This is a list I was given..

1) On the Right rear reduction box the thread is stripped on on the bolts.
2) Brake master cylinder licking.
3) Drag Link and tie rods in bad condition
4) Tie rod in bad condition. (not sure if it the same as above)
5) Center Pin in bad condition (not sure exactly what this is)
6) Engine seems to be touching the body somewhere.

7) Too many solenoids connected to starter system.
8 ) Rear Dust cover behind engine missing.
9) Push Rod tubes (Left and right) deflector plates not there.
10) Battery Clamp missing

I'm not very familiar with all the suspensions issues but could that be why the steering is not so lekka?
Anyone know where I can get the suspensions parts, it will be appreciated.

Any feedback is welcome. Thanx

Hi all..
Ok doesn't look like the i'm going to sell the Panel van.
Got one Double cab shell that i might use as a donor for the nose, it is already cut at certain places. Was thinking of building it up but by the looks will take alot of time and money...

What do use think of the shell? Use as donor or..
If I use as a donor, will be stripping the rest and selling..

Hi Samba,

I sense a bit a hostility here.. And no i'm not an exporter.

I don't mean to sound rude or nasty or anything.. So apologies if I do. Firstly it is my van, I paid for it and I can do with it what I want (Doesn't matter how much I paid for it). And I marked it up for the same price here in SA as some of the people are selling them.

Let me explain to you what I wanted to do. Even though I don't have to.

I wanted to see if I could do up the double cab. Got some advise from someone on the Forum here, that it would actually be a big and very long project. So I wanted to see if I could sell the panel van to fund the project. Which would be very costly, so obviously I would need to get as much possible for the van. But as u may have noticed I am going to cut up the D/C for the front for the Panel Van. So looks like I wont be selling it after all, unless I get a another D/C that is in a reasonable shape.

If you have any problems with me personally or with me selling my van, please feel free to PM me.
Thank you.

Lets make one thing clear, guys on here are very insistent on South African buses or indeed South African ACVW's staying within SA - and with due reason. There is a section of the site dedicated to warn locals of suspected and active exporters: http://www.aircooledvwsa.co.za/viewforum.php?f=14 so with that taken into consideration, Samba's out-lash at your posted advert on the international forum was to be expected and completely understood. I was equally as shocked to see the ad.

International buyers are snapping up our vehicles at cheap prices due to favoring exchange rates on their behalf and we are losing precious, historic cars that deserve to stay here to try and keep some of the SA ACVW-built heritage.

It is your car. You did pay for it and (sadly) you can do what you want with it. Your intention of making extra money is understood but doing through exporting a local car is frowned upon.

I gather you weren't aware that advertising a vehicle internationally is a no-no on this forum.

Here we go again :jerkoff:

Same stupid exporter topic. This is exactly the reason why this forum has a bad reputation at times. :|

Kuvs, it's your Bus. You can do what you want with it. I see that some joker offered you R10k on the other vw forum, what the f#Ck??!

If people feel so strongly about this bus being advertised for R40k on a UK site, why don't they put their money where their mouths are and buy it to keep it in SA???!!!!

IT WAS ADVERTISED FOR EXACTLY THE SAME AMOUNT HERE IN SA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please guys, this topic is getting old now. Can't we all just enjoy our cars and this forum without bringing stupid needless politics into it....

edit: rant over, I'm sure that I'm not the only one who's so sick of this stupid never ending export debate.
If it's too low, you're too old
