Engine conversion

Post by ridwan.karrim »

Hey all. I own a 1970 beetle 1600 twinport. I'm thinking about swopping the engine to something more powerful. I don't know what the best suited conversions are, i need help with this. Please inform me of the best conversion in terms of installation and power gain. Thanks guys.

Have a look under IMPI conversion, type 4 power. Still aircooled but you need a conversion to keep it cool.

Then do a Subaru engine. Watercooled but it should fit under the lid.

Well my bugs decent looking. Its 2k yellow with a green pearl coating. gives it kind of a two tone effect. i'v got a set of 16" wheels wich i took off a camry 300sei. polished them and smacked them on. i've got adjustable front suspension. the car sits quite low, bout 80mm or so lower than standard. the back is dropped as well to level with the front. the engine is standard. Wanted to send a pic in but not sure how.

The easiest and cheapest way to get more power into your vdub is to fit another plant. The golf motor is a popular conversion. Take a 1800 carb version and you got 70 odd KW.
