VW stash

Post by Watercool »

I was just talking with a guy from South Africa and we got to the point of VW's, he loves them too. Long story short, he tells me there is/was a big VW stash along the R 304 between the interstate and Stellenbosch on the left side of the road, toward Stellenbosch. Lots of Beetles and Type3's, what he said. But he also mentioned that he has not been there in a few years and do not know if it is still there, might be worth to look into it, if somebody does not already have that staked out. I had to google it (that is how I got the spelling right), he said it should be about where the Nooitgedacht farm is. The cars was in a very dense wooded aria, not easily seen from the road. Just thought to pass this info on.

Hi, I travel the road everyday and have never seen such a "stash". Thanks for the lead anyway.

We might be on to something here as the farm is now owned by a German Herr.

HR Looking at the google pic it seems like about the place he looked at on the map too. But he was not hundred percent sure but it is in the aria. He said the cars was parked in a pretty dense wooded aria, down a slight embankment, not readlly seen from the street/road.

Hi, had another slow drive along the R304 between the N1 and Stellenbosch, could'nt see anything at Nooitgedacht. However, about 1-2 km further on there is a farm where two brothers have businesses, the
Laubsher brothers on the farm Tweespruit. The one is a mechanic, the other an auto electrician. The mechanic has a good reputation as a VW aircooled mechanic, but the interest seems to have waned in recent years. Seems to work more on farm implements, mowers, etc. It is possible that in the past, there were old VWs lying around there, in fact very possible. The description also matches : on the left hand side, below road level, hidden under trees, and I saw a bay window double cab outside the workshop today (not for sale, I know the owner!).
Will pop in there again and ask them if they know of any "stash" in the area !!!!!!!!
