Re: "BELLA" - My 64 Split bus with WC Conversion
Hallo All
I know a long time since I have updated,, some news on the bus
I bought a new car for towing Bella around (Volvo V70 T5)
My twin boet (EddieB) bought a dubble cab bay for his laaitie, and got a second boddy for spares,, It was then agreed I will take the bay for spares in exchange for a S/C Split body I have in the yard.
In all I have to travel to Johannesburg and back with a trailer,, While I'm there I will pick up a ex-Blitskrieg AC motor for Bella as well.
This will only be done next year as the projects keep me busy at work.. Hopefully things will start to happen in the new year
Now I know how some folks feel when a project just doesn't fall into place
I would like to make use of this opportunity to wish all your family and you a prosperous and happy 2011
Johan

Re: "BELLA" - My 64 Split bus with WC Conversion
Hey hi Johan, just read all the pages of your post for the first time, Wow !
I remember this bus from Stanford, went there a few times to (try) by parts, busses, etc. with no joy ......... glad you got the bus in the end, and also happy that all of those busses and DCs went to the right people thanks to Christian.
So what happened to the rest, I know Fig is busy with his '57, Muds/Henry are busy with one of the double cabs, you have the bus in this post, I saw the Single cab that was kept in the shed with Fig's '57 a year ago, had the engine rebuilt, new spray job, etc.
What happened to the other DC and busses? I think the scrap yard owner kept the Laundry bus. Would be nice to know how the other busses are progressing .....
I think I met you in George last year - at the caravan park ? Wife and 2 kids ? Sorry for the hi-jack, good luck with the rest of the project and congrats on the Volvo

Hah hah hah, yes my name is Paul, I was there 2 years ago in my westy (Coke a Cola bus), had just done a trip to Durbs and back, and last year in my '65 10 seater Kombi, think I met you on both occasions, do you stay in Bothasig?

Also only read this topic for the first time. GOOD LUCK with the rebuild!! That is one very rusty bus.
I have a front end from a fleetline which i didn't use in the end when rebuilding mine, let me know if you need it.

Re: "BELLA" - My 64 Split bus with Aircooled turbo motor
Hallo All
Just a quick update,, went to Johannesburg this long weekend to fetch my spares,, Myself and my boet visited Bugger to fetch my bus nose,, thanks for guard duty on the bus nose Bugger
The suspension I was suppose to collect wasn't ready when I left Johannesburg, , will have to travel again with the trailer....
I have collected the Air-cooled engines for the bus,, I'm in the process of buying a complete Variant 411 for suspension and fuel injection spares,,
Then it will be the last of the body parts and then away to the panel beater,, In the end the bus will be fixed properly -- the only thing,, wished things would go quicker
All the best with all the projects going.. I know how you feel when getting frustrated

Re: "BELLA" - My 64 Split bus with EV Conversion
Hi all
Went to the motor show at Kilarney,, Nice seeing everybodies kombi's
I'm going a new route with the split screen, decided to go full electric on the bus. (read Jahu Garcia's bus)
The Hyster forklift motor was delivered last night, and the son was busy with it for the last week, I know pictures tell a thousand words
Will push the bus out and get the updated photos out there, I have set a dead line as the George show next year,, need to move my arse now.
Just a question,, any electric forklift engineers out there with some advise (cheap parts will do as well )
All the best with classics out there
