one of those can be built overnight but it'll take
some time to grow and mature to the right age so it's usable

I thought someone was going to complain about this not being in the seatcover thread.

Damn! I was hoping we were the first members contemplating to build.one of these. -:(
LOL
Anyway I bought a whole cd online with plans, history and pics of many different models.
I just need to find the right donor trailer for the base.
The only substitute for cubic inches are more cubic inches.

There is a whole forum about teardrop trailers, The only problem I have is there is nowhere to store something like that

There's a guy in the Cape building these,
http://www.tankmnfg.com/cgi-bin/photoal ... to/2190161 . I don't think that the girlie is offered as an optional extra though. He is also selling a Kombi camper with Devon popup roof so may be the guy mentioned above.
There are plans at Bid or Buy
http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/26287750 ... r_own.html for R25. There are also dozens of free plans online, just do a Google search for "teardrop trailer". Gazillions of great photos online too, including lots of oldies from more than 50 years ago. I was very keen to build one of these before I started work on the Kombi project instead.

Saw one in the flesh at a show in Cornwall a few months back. They are really cool even for a day show - kitchen out back and bed inside- very tiny inside though so you dont want ot go to bed drunk not knowing where you are as i could be a problem if you wake up in the middle of the night !!

Camping is cheaper than therapy.

Hi Coop, that is Claude and his son Luke, who HR was referring to. They have sold the last one they had in stock (and the camper).

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

... so I presume that he has stopped making them then? I wonder if there is another local builder, I have not seen one of these on local roads.

I'm sure he'll make to order. The last one went for under R20k, he had it for sale at various car shows and on Gumtree for ages.

Seems like a bargain to me, and it would look great behind a Beetle. Get building guys!
