Re: Oldskoolspeed / Driftz (photo heavy content!)
finally got around to fitting the dell...
setting up the accell cable was a bit of a mission, and the feel isnt great because of the bends.. so i'll be re-routing it next.

Would be interested to know if you get any problems with the float chamber / starvation with the carb mounted like that.

float chamber - only time the carb acts up is under heavy cornering.. gives a slight miss, but not serious. otherwise its pulling strong.
i got the Manifold with the Dell.. from Vinny on the forum. i needed to shorten the mani a little but otherwise a easy fit. the Manifold is cold all the way to the heads.. almost has ice-icles just under the carb area.. dunno if im running it a bit too lean maybe. but its driving fine.. so it might be good.

Re: Oldskoolspeed / Driftz (photo heavy content!)
Is it a stock 1600?im putting mine on my 1717cc which comes out of a sandmaster the carb came with motor must be the one that was on it but didnt have the manifold so i put my stock carb on and holy does it pull 9:1 comp ratio, mild headwork, empi ratio rockers, cromolly pushrods, unknown cam definatly not stock, anyway but the stock carb is chocking the crap out of it,it pulls like a beast to say 2500 rpm and then starts to scream for more petrol,so i hope fitting mine is gonna bring out its real power i cant wait and the fact that it looks so sweet on a buggy!

it does look sweet on the bug
i had the twin dell setup ready to go on.. but unfortunately i wouldve had to cut the body to make them work lekker.. so i whent with this one.
My current motor is also a 17oo + cc ( not sure what exactly ) .. was rebuilt recently. it has a mild engle 288 cam, 009 dizzy and a little bit of head work, .. nothing serious. i wouldnt say its fast ... but it pulls way better than before and it's plenty fun.

Re: Oldskoolspeed / Driftz (photo heavy content!)
Ja wouldnt say mine is that fast but the differance becomes clear when i jump into my buggy after driving my 1300tp beetle...diced my dads 1600 tazz the other day which isnt slow for its size...and my buggy held it 1st and 2nd 3rd it starts to pull away but that is at the point the motor starts screaming for petrol...and the tazz thrased a 2l golf with 44 weber sidedrafts on and worked cam the other day...

Have you weighed your buggy...mine weighs 550kgs...so just a little power makes for great fun specially when it has just rained...

Re: Oldskoolspeed / Driftz (photo heavy content!)
ha ha.. fully, i was also totally drifting my buggy the other day after the rain... slow drift ofcourse, but full on angle all the way around the traffic circles... one after tha other, i was amazed at how well it did it. i reckon the buggy has about 40kw atw. Gave a Golf 5 gti a good shock the other day ( lights to lights ) .. loldubster wrote:Have you weighed your buggy...mine weighs 550kgs...so just a little power makes for great fun specially when it has just rained...
However ... my other project car has 400hp and has been prepped for drift ... so i cant compare power / speed against the little bug i love so much.
