Which is the correct battery?

Post by miguel »

Guys, my 1961 12V 1600 Beetle currently has a 619 battery which is flat. I need a new battery but different places have given me different battery types. I have been told it should take a 618 and a 630.

Which battery should I be running in the car?

630 sounds correct but wait for confirmation from the others...

Hp is how fast you hit the wall, and Torque is how far you take the wall with you."

Up to 1966 = 630
From 67 onwards = 646

630 is correct but are you using a radio or have you got extra driving lights? If so, then you probably should use a 634 to give you more amp/hours.

No radio or extra driving lights. I purchased a 630 and it seems to do the job. Thanks for your help once again guys.
