Kombi tent for Sale

Post by Muderick »

Hi Volks

After selling one of my Kombi tents to Ron & Gill a few months ago, I have decided to let another one go, just in time for the holidays. The ones I have left are slightly smaller, and easier to put up. Both are in excellent condition, complete with all poles, guy ropes and bags. Both tents are kombi tents, in that they attach to the sliding door of any bay window, or side doors of any Splitty.

The canvas fabric is the best of the ones I have and its in excellent condition, thick, without any tears or runs. The tent has 2 side windows, a large front opening verandah (that allows it to be used as a gazebo as well) and the obligatory rear opening zipped door for attachment and access to the kombi. The aluminium tent poles are in great condition and are super strong while still being very light to transport.

A similar tent from Christys Sports will retail for over R7500. PS: The pics show the tent inside out after having a brand new heavy duty zipper fitted... but you get the picture.

I want R2500, and will sell to the 1st person to respond here or via PM or SMS

Hi there...

For the condition this tent is in, I would assume its a newer model made sometime in the 80's... no way to be sure as it is not marked. The guy in the picture that did the new zip for me said he think its about 20 -25 years old. The canvas he said was stronger than normal ones as it has a cross thread which makes it more durable. The poles are aluminium with the 4 bottom legs in steel for strength.

In the pic attached, the parts marked in yellow are the side flaps, of which I normally take the one closest to the passenger front door, open the the door, slot it into the door opening and then close the door. Voila! its rock solid. The othe flap I normally pull around the end of mu sliding door, and using the guy rope to tighten it to my rear bumper. The zip open flap is normally thrown over the roof and tighten down on the other side with the guy ropes.... these are all under winter and windy conditions... during summer and non windy times, just pull the kombi up behind the tent and throw the flap over the roof....

With the cargo doors it should be easier as the flaps are about the same size either side as the cargo doors opened...

The part marked in red is a sleeve, where one of the tent poles are pushed into it from left to right or vice versa. This then allows you to fit the pole into the kombi, one end on the floor close to the rear of the front seat and the other inside the door close to the rear seat. This prevents and wind or sand been blown under the kombi into the tent...

Hope this helps...

Do you still have this tent Muds?

If anyone is planning to participate in the vintage camping display at the Kult kamp-out in February, you NEED this tent! :hangloose:
