On the Road Agin

Post by Madbones »

Well after the great trip with KKK to Magalies "Naked Fury" is about to hit the road agin.
We start our trip tomorrow from Lonehill to Champagne Castle in the Berg for four days.
Hoping to find some really bad mountain roads to cross so wish me luck.
Then from there it's onto Happy Wanderers on the South Coast for some r&r on the beach.
Looking forward to a great trip with the family in a great bus and if I can I will post a pic or two.
I wish you and yours a very Happy and Prosperous 2011, may your aircooleds take you to places
Volvos can't go........ :hangloose:

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

Made the Berg no problem. Fully loaded Naked Fury pulled well, except the hills of course.
Rained solid for four days in the Berg so left yesterday for South Coast where it rained some more, and then some more, and then a bit more.
Finally today the sun is shining and I'm sitting on the beach basking in sunshine. Ok so most everything I own is soaked to the mad bone but we are finally on the beach.

Ok so I do have one small problem with Naked Fury and hope someone can help, I seem to be having an alternator fig moment.

When I switch the ignition off the red generator light comes on and stays on, when I switch the ignition on the red generator light goes out an she runs. Problem is it drained the battery flat while driving so I have charged the battery overnight. Strange thing is the battery was very low on acid s I've topped it up. I think something is now either draining the battery or the battery is dud or the alternator is dud? Where do I start and I have already replaced the regulator?
Will the battery get me back to JNB is it's not charging?
Thanks guys photos will follow.

Naked Fury made it back home safely and a great trip was had by all. :D
Despite a minor rectifier problem in the alternator and R930 lighter in the pocket we had a magic trip.
It rained cats and dogs in the Berg and Durban so we did get wet throught the roof, added water feature when in camp mode and roof up.
Despite this my beloved Westy just kept running and makes a trip like this something special. Downhills 120 kms uphills in 3rd 60kms(Van Reenens)
Looking forward to my next camping trip at Mr& Mrs Fig bring it on :hangloose:
And yes when I figure out how to compress the photos I will post, sorry.
Ciao
